The roof of the new airport in Istanbul is almost complete and the acceptance process is underway. Completing the BEMO standing seam roof – c. 425,000 m² in size – the largest combined metal roof in the world with a structure that is completely heat bridge-free – in only 20 months was a major challenge which was mastered successfully by ADEN Metal and BEMO teams.

This logistics “mission” was carried out in close cooperation between ADEN Metal and BEMO with efficient local Turkish suppliers.

In record time more than 1,000 workers from ADEN Metal assembled more then 40,000 – 50,000 m² each month of the whole roof package at different points.

BEMO was on site with two roll formers and an expanding machine to ensure standing seam production would continue around the clock at the appropriate points of this major project.

During execution the teams processed >1,800 tonnes of aluminium, >6,000 tonnes of steel, >80,000 cbm of insulation, >20 km guttering, > 460 roof lights and they used more than 5 million screws and rivets!
