Turkey – Science Center and Planetarium, Konya

The conceptual design of the Konya Science Center marks Turkey’s first truly large interactive institution dedicated to informal learning about science and technology in the 3rd largest city of Turkey.

The buildings include the following galleries: Basic Science, New Technology, Earth- and Bio Systems, Space, Health, Planetarium, Konya History and Culture and an Outside Exhibition area.
 


Primary steel construction is made with space frame in segments, the final round shape is given by the combination of the BEMO-DOME sub construction and the BEMO MONRO standing seam system. The BEMO standings seam systems acts as support and base construction for the final outer smooth shape, made of composite panels. 
 

Main advantage of using the BEMO standing seam system for this roof build-up is the penetration free fixation of the sub construction for the composite panels with special clamps at the BEMO standing seams and the shape giving BEMO-DOME and BEMO-MONRO system, which makes the installation of the composite surface easy and economic.
