Taiwan - Center of Art

This project is one of the biggest of this type in Asia.

The Center of Art is a theatre complex of 141,000 m² in the Wei-Wu-Ying Metropolitan Park, Kaohsiung - Taiwan with a total capacity of 5,900 seats: Concert Hall 2000 seats, Opera House 2250 seats, Playhouse 1250 seats, Recital Hall 500 seats, public library of 800 m², rehearsal/education halls for music and dance, 2 congress halls with 100 and 200 chairs and stage building workshops.

Designed in collaboration between Taiwanese architects and Mecanoo Architecten, Delft, it will become southern Taiwan’s largest international-class performing arts center.

Due to the complicated shape and the aesthetical requirement to follow the exact alignment of the roof sheets all over the project, curved and individually designed BEMO-MONRO panels in aluminum with both sides PVDF coating will be used. Total roof coverage about 35,000 m².

Production will be made on-site from 2013.
